Prescott Valley, AZ – The Arizona Sundogs defeated the Bloomington Blaze, 4-1 Saturday night at Tim’s Toyota Center, collecting three of their four goals in the first period.
Arizona lit the lamp early in the opening period when Ron Meyers inched the puck into the net off a rebound just one minute into the period. Assists were credited to Adam Smyth and Karl Linden. The Sundogs collected three of their four goals in the first period when Meyers tallied his second of the evening one in a half minutes later. Jason Morgan scored a power play goal in the final minute in a half after Bloomington’s Jon Booras was issued four minutes for cross checking and roughing.
Matthew Larke collected Bloomington’s lone goal of the game with assists from Booras and Nicklas Lindberg. His goal came on the power play when Smyth was called for elbowing and Derek LeBlanc was called for unsportsman like conduct.
Chad Nehring pulled the Sundogs to a three point lead when he scored on the power play with two in a half minutes left in the final period. Morgan tallied three points tonight. Adam Russo took the win for Arizona blocking 26 shots. Arizona was 2-4 on the power play while Bloomington was 1-10. Arizona outshot Bloomington 34-27.
