ARIZONA’S RUSSO NAMED OAKLEY CHL GOALIE OF THE WEEK

GLENDALE, AZ (March 12, 2013) –The Central Hockey League announced today that Arizona Sundogs goaltender Adam Russo has been named the Oakley Central Hockey League Goaltender of the Week for the period ending March 10, 2013. This marks the second time this season that Russo has won the weekly award (also won for the week of January 15-21)

Russo had a busy week winning three of his four starts and falling in a shootout in the other decision. The Montreal native went 3-0-1 stopping 75 of 81 shots (.926 save percentage) and earned his first shutout of the season in Wednesday’s 22-save effort in his team’s 5-0 win in Tulsa.

CHL Goaltending Leaders

Russo started the week with 17 saves in a 7-2 win in Tulsa and then followed that up with his shutout. He then was outstanding in a pair of game in Fort Worth against the Brahmas making 22 saves in a 4-3 shootout loss on Friday night and then stopped 14 of 15 shots in a 2-1 win at NYTEX Sports Centre.

For the season, Russo is 16-11-5 with a 2.52 goals against average (sixth in the CHL) and he is 12-6-1 in his last 19 decisions.
