Prescott Valley, AZ – Vince Fedorowich, the Sundogs’ Head Athletic Trainer for the past two seasons has accepted a position with the American Hockey League’s (AHL) Abbotsford Heat. The Heat is an affiliate of the National Hockey League’s (NHL) Calgary Flames.
Earlier, this year the Toronto native received top honors, being voted the league’s top athletic trainer for the 2012-13 season and was the runner-up earning a nomination and finishing second during the 2011-12 season.
Fedorowich is no stranger to the AHL, having spent three years living and working in Virginia as an athletic training assistant for the Norfolk Admirals from 2007-09. He has also worked stints for the AHL’s Iowa Stars and the Boston Red Sox Single-A affiliate the Greenville Drive. Most recently he worked for the Central Hockey League’s (CHL) Quad City Mallards during the 2010-11 season before joining the Sundogs.
He is a graduate of Graceland University and received a Masters Degree in Athletic Training Education from Old Dominion University in 2009.
“Vince was a very important part of the success of our team” said Sundogs General Manager, Chris Presson. “I’ve had the pleasure of working with him for three years and the knowledge and dedication he brings with him is incredible. His efforts and contributions to providing quality care to our players was top notch and having a trainer of his caliber not only helped our team avoid unnecessary injuries but also made our players feel confident with their care. We will miss him but wish him continued success in his career.”
