Prescott Valley, AZ – The Arizona Sundogs struggled to snap their losing skid with a 4-1 loss Friday night at Tim’s Toyota Center in front of 1,916 fans. Arizona is on a five game losing streak, four of which are on home ice.
Arizona headed into the second period ahead by one goal when they struck first with a goal from Jordan Clendenning 9:20 into the opening frame with assist from Bryan Cameron and Paul Mcilveen. Arizona held Rapid City off until the second period when the Rush came out and landed three goals in the second period giving them the upper hand which the Sundogs couldn’t recover from. Rapid City’s Konrad Reeder, Justin Faryna and Scott Wray all scored for the Rush in the middle period.
Rapid City returned in the third period to solidify their win with their fourth goal of the game registered by Justin Sawyer.
Despite Arizona’s six power play opportunities they were unable to convert any to goals and Rapid City had four power play opportunities. Rush’s Tim Boron was solid in net again blocking 35 of Arizona’s 36 shots and Sundogs Andrew Engelage blocked 30 of 34 shots, taking the loss for the Sundogs.
Both teams are back at it again tomorrow in their third game, and they will head on the road next week to finish a stretch of five games between the two teams.
