Prescott Valley, AZ – The Arizona Sundogs announced today the signing of forward, David Rutherford.

Rutherford, joins the Sundogs after playing in 21 games for the Orlando Solar Bears of the ECHL this season. The Ladner, British Columbia native posted six goals and three assists for nine points.

Previously, he has played for the Charlotte Checkers, Phoenix Roadrunners and the Florida Everbaldes. Rutherford also played for former Sundogs Head Coach, Scott Muscutt for the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs from 2009-11. In 2010-11 came his most successful season so far where he collected 35 goals, 32 assists for 67 points in 58 games. That same season he helped lead his team to the 2011 Ray Miron President’s Cup Championship putting up 12 goals and 10 assists for 22 points in 20 playoff games.

The 5-foot-9, Rutherford has amassed an impressive record, posting 120 goals and 129 assists for 249 points in 294 professional games and has helped his teams advance to the playoffs the last four consecutive seasons.

Sundogs Head Coach, Kevin Colley said, “He is a proven winner, multiple seasons and brings a lot of talent. It’s his character and willingness to play the game hard and the right way that I most like about him. He can do it all and is a huge boost for our organization.
