Prescott Valley, AZ – The Arizona Sundogs’ late surge in the third period pushed them to a 4-3 overtime victory over the Brampton Beast Saturday night at Tim’s Toyota Center.

Arizona and Brampton were tied at the end of the first period with a goal apiece. 7:26 into the period Scott Howes scored while on the power play after Johan Ryd was given two for boarding. With under five minutes left in the period the Sundogs lit the lamp collecting their own power play goal, from Jason Morgan. 15:02 into the second period Ryd was assessed a delay of game penalty providing Howes his second power play opportunity and subsequent goal 16:52 into the period.

The Sundogs found themselves down two goals in the third after Jason Pitton scored Brampton’s third goal 11:20 into the period and with five minutes remaining in regulation the Sundogs lit the fire collecting two goals. Their first from Garrett Clarke at 14:52 with assists from Kevin Baker and Matt McCready which came on the power play. Less than a minute later Kevin Baker scores forcing the game into overtime and with 25 seconds before heading into a shootout Jason Morgan scored the game winning goal and Arizona’s third power play goal, with assists from Ian Schultz and Kevin Baker.

Andrew Engelage took the win making 33 saves. The Beast outshot the Sundogs 36-34. Arizona was 3-5 on the power play and Brampton was 2-4.

Arizona goes on the road for a game against the Allen Americans and a pair against the Tulsa Oilers before returning home on February 18, 2014.
