Prescott Valley, AZ – The Arizona Sundogs announced they signed Manitoba native, Shawn Limpright. The former Bossier-Shreveport Mudbug is no stranger to the pressure that this time of year brings when every team is pushing for their playoff spot, having advanced to the post-season 10 out of 12 seasons culminating in winning a championship in 2011 with the Mudbugs.
The 5-foot-11, 185-pound forward joins the Sundogs after returning from overseas where he played his last two seasons. Most recently Limpright played for Esbjerg in Denmark posting six goals and 13 assists for 19 points in 26 games. During his 2012-13 season he tallied 21 goals and 37 assists for 58 points, averaging a point a game playing for the Sheffield Steelers of the Elite Ice Hockey League (EIHL).
The 12-year veteran began his professional career in the ECHL where he played in 360 games and collected 85 goals and 168 assists for 253 points. He played 241 of those games for the Las Vegas Wranglers posting his career high plus/minus rating of 23 in 2006-07. Limpright also spent time in the American Hockey League (AHL) playing for the Syracuse Crunch for 45 games and tallied 18 points. “Shawn is a winner and has a ton of variables to him both on and off the ice and adds to our leadership group”, said Sundogs Head Coach, Kevin Colley. “We couldn’t be more excited to have him join us at a time of so many injuries and to make a run in the post season. Shawn, we believe can put us over the edge with his hockey knowledge and his desire to win.”
