Prescott Valley, AZ – The Arizona Sundogs dropped game four against the Missouri Mavericks Friday night at Tim’s Toyota Center, 3-1.
The Mavericks took the lead with a power play goal 8:08 into the first period. Andrew Courtney tallied the goal from Eric Castonguay and Sebastien Thinel after Tom Maxwell was given two minutes for a roughing minor. Missouri extended their lead in the second period with a goal from Mike Ramsay, again while on the man-advantage after Alex Tuckerman was sent off for holding. Matt Stephenson and Thinel picked up the helpers.
A last minute third period goal broke the seal for the Sundogs when Matt McCready found the back of the net with under two minutes remaining in regulation. After originally waiving off McCready’s third period goal, it was determined by the referee the puck indeed met the net crossing the goal line.
Andrew Engelage made 24 saves and faced 26 shots on net. The Sundogs outshot the Mavericks 41-27. Arizona was 0-4 on the power play and Missouri was 2-4. Game 5 against the Mavericks is tomorrow at 7:05PM at Tim’s Toyota Center.
