PRESCOTT VALLEY, Ariz. – The Arizona Sundogs of the Central Hockey League announced today that the team collected 647 pounds of canned food and non-perishable food items in a two-day food drive held during two home games last weekend to benefit the Yavapai Food Bank.
“Our fans once again have proven why they’re the best fans in the Central Hockey League,” said Arizona Sundogs Director of Business Operations Bill Yates. “We called on them to assist a great cause in the Yavapai Food Bank and they responded with overwhelming support.”
Fans who made donations prior to the games on Friday and Saturday received a coupon good for 20% off in the Arizona Sundogs Team Store in exchange for their donation. Collection bins were set up inside Tim’s Toyota Center on the concourse near the arena’s two main entrances.
Yavapai Food Bank assists roughly 2,000 people and provides 500 boxes of food on a weekly basis. Food items most needed include canned vegetables, canned fruit, soups and stews, dried pasta, rice, beans, cold cereals, canned meat and fruit juice.
Donations and financial contributions are always accepted and can be dropped off directly at Yavapai Food Bank located at 8866 E. Long Mesa Drive in Prescott Valley.
