Prescott Valley, AZ – The Arizona Sundogs were no match for Rapid City this weekend, losing their fourth straight game in front of a home crowd of 2,266 at Tim’s Toyota Center Saturday night.
Rapid City’s Damian Surma recorded a hat trick tonight, scoring three goals, two of which were collected on power plays. His first was a result of a penalty shot he received. He tallied his second goal with assists from Kyle Peto and Jordan Baker half way through the second period. Surma’s third goal came in the final 20 minutes. Rush’s Scott Brannon came in with the game winning goal six in a half minutes into the first period and Peto recorded two points. Mario Larocque and Justin Fargna were both accessed five minutes for roughing when the two dropped their gloves and the punches began to fly.
Arizona’s Derek LeBlanc posted the only goal of the evening for the Sundogs, his sixth of the season. Assists were credited to Kevin Petovello and Chad Langlais. The Sundogs were 1-4 on the power play while Rush was 2-7. Sundogs, David Brown made 37 saves in net and Danny Battochio made 23.
Arizona hosts Allen Texas next week Wednesday at Tim’s Toyota Center, this will be their seventh meeting of the season. Following their match against Allen the Sundogs go on the road for a 10 day road trip when they see Missouri, Fort Worth and Denver.
