Prescott Valley, AZ – The Arizona Sundogs sank in Game 4 against the Denver Cutthroats in front of 3,391 fans at Tim’s Toyota Center Wednesday night, 4-1.
With two unanswered goals in the opening period and two more in the second Denver was on their way to a victory after 40 minutes. Troy Schwab kicked off Denver’s offensive surge with a goal 13:20 into the period from AJ Gale and Steve Kaunsito and 6:34 later Daniel Barczuk cushioned their lead with another goal.
Mikael Tam tallied both second period goals for Denver, the first at 3:51 from Gale and his second at 19:04 from Kaunisto and TJ Fox. Sebastian Geoffrion finally solved Cutthroats goalie Kent Patterson when he scored Arizona’s only goal of the night with 16 seconds left in the second period with assists going to Justin Pender and Johan Ryd. Neither team scored in the final period as tempers began to flare. A combined 58 penalty minutes were served in the third with the Sundogs receiving 36 minutes and the Cutthroats being assessed 22 minutes.
Adam Brown took the loss for the Sundogs making 20 saves. The Sundogs outshot the Cutthroats by one-to-two, 55-24. Neither team connected on the power play with Arizona 0-7 and Denver 0-5. The series will shift back to Denver at the Denver Coliseum for Game 5 Saturday night at 6:00PM.
